About Our Scholarships

We began this program over ten years ago and, to date, have awarded approximately $350,000 to numerous talented and deserving students.  This is an activity of which we all are most proud. We also wish to note that all of the contributed money goes directly to the scholarship recipients. In 2022 the Association awarded twelve $2,000 scholarships to students at the University of Arizona, chosen by our panel of volunteer interviewers.  Additionally, five $2,000 scholarships were awarded to five University High School students in 2022. There is no overhead. We rely on staff at University High School and staff at the University of Arizona Foundation to do much of the preliminary administrative work, and they do it pro bono.

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude in being chosen as a recipient of the Phi Beta Kappa Scholarship. It is such a privilege to be selected, as words cannot express how indebted I feel. With the Phi Beta Kappa Scholarship, my college experience will be improved greatly as I can now comfortably afford materials and supplies I will need for my upcoming educational pursuits.”

“The cost of attending college has risen considerably in recent years. Coming from a family of five in which two children are attending college, and only my father is working to support an income, it is through the generous support of scholarships and financial aid that I am able to attend the University of Arizona. I would like to extend my extreme gratitude and say Thank You to the Phi Beta Kappa of Greater Tucson for the generous Phi Beta Kappa Scholarship. This scholarship will go a long way to support my premedical education in Physiology as I prepare to continue my studies to hopefully graduate and look forward to medical school in the future…My passions lie mainly in neurology, and I wish to pursue it going forward in my education.

I will be moving onto my Junior/ 3rd Year of college next year, and will be facing many challenges. I will be taking even more rigorous courses while working in a research lab on campus looking into using light as a treatment for concussions, preparing for my Medical College Admission Test (MCAT), and working with Physiology Club and HOSA [Health Occupations Students of America] as a club officer for both. This scholarship helps relieve some of the stress of paying for college.”
